What this actually involves
Brushing heavy matting out hurts, so it is often kinder to take the coat short and start again, and with bunnies and cats, whose skin tears easily, it is frequently the only safe option. Taylor checks how deep the matting goes, works out what she can, removes what she cannot, and looks at the skin underneath. Severe cases sometimes need more than one session, and she will say so rather than push your pet too far in one visit. She will always call before changing the plan.

- Why is de-matting sometimes a shave-down instead?
- Because a tight mat is attached to the skin. Pulling it out hurts, and hours of it hurts a lot. Where the coat is past brushing, taking it off short and growing it back properly is the humane answer.

- Always. You get a call before anything changes from what you booked. Nothing happens to your animal that you did not agree to.
