What this actually involves
Long nails push the toes out of position and put strain up through the legs and spine, and in bunnies they are one of the most common causes of sore hocks. Taylor trims back to a safe length and checks the quick as she goes, with a light for dark nails, so nothing gets cut short. Most trims take only a few minutes once the animal has settled, and settling is not rushed.

- How often do nails need doing?
- Most pets are every four to six weeks. If you can hear them on a hard floor, they are already long.
- What if the nails are already too long?
- The quick grows out with the nail, so very overgrown nails cannot be taken back to normal in one go without bleeding. She takes them shorter in stages across a few visits.
